Basket Lattes Montpellier Agglomeration rolled to a 78-58 victory at struggling Frisco Sika Brno on Wednesday to snap a two-game losing streak and move into third place in EuroLeague Women Group C.
Valéry Demory's side got solid, all-round performance by France international Edwige Lawson who had 12 points, seven rebounds and a game-high five steals.
Fatimatou Sacko led the winners with 17 points.
The visitors stormed into a 47-29 lead late in the first half.
Leading 36-25, Lawson's two free-throws and a Stephany Skrba lay-up sparked an 11-4 run that Brno never recovered from.
The Czech team got no closer than nine points in the fourth quarter.
Tereza Peckova had 15 points for Brno, who fell to 1-8.
Basket Montpellier Head Coach Valéry Demory
"This game was very important for my team because we want to step to the play-offs. But I wasn´t satisfied with our performance in the third period. I told our players after the first period that they must play with attention. We lost concentration and the difference was in the 28th minute only two points, 53-51. At the end of the game we played better and we didn´t have problems."
Frisco Brno Head Coach Jan Bobrovsky
"It was our typical game. In the beginning, we were losing by ten points. Then we played a few minutes good and next few minutes very poor. Mostly our defeat was decided after the first period. But I believed today after our good performance in the third period that we could win. But we played very well only eight minutes. After our mistakes on defence we lost the game with 20 points difference."
Basket Montpellier player Edwige Lawson
"Brno played today better than in the first game in France. We played in the second period better and faster. But I can't explain why we lost a 16-point advantage in the third period. Probably we were satisfied and lost concentration. Our shooting in this part of the game was bad. But I am happy, we played very well in the last ten minutes."
Frisco Brno player Alena Hanusova
"The basketball spectacle in the first period was horrible for spectators. For us was very good that Montpellier didn´t play aggressive. Our performance was better. But we lost the game after our mistakes. Our defence was bad and our rival played faster."
