| 09.11.2011 EUROLEAGUE WOMEN Milka Bjelica had one of her finest all-round games in the EuroLeague Women to help Wisla Can-Pack Krakow beat Cras Basket Taranto. In the Group C game in Poland, Montenegro international Bjelica had 16 points, 12 rebounds and six steals as Wisla prevailed 64-58. The hosts had a 13-point lead in the fourth quarter but instead of pressing home the advantage, they allowed the Italians to come back. When Simona Ballardini hit a three-pointer with 1:50 remaining, the Wisla lead was 60-54. Two Ballardini free-throws with 1:05 to go left the home side on top, 61-56. Erin Phillips settled their nerves with a jump shot and fouled on the play by Kia Vaughn, she sank the free-throw to stretch the lead back to eight. Vaughn had an impressive night of her own, scoring 20 points and corralling 17 rebounds. Cras lost for the second time in a row to fall to 2-3 and Wisla, who lost last week at Frisco Sika Brno, improved to 4-1. |
