Defending champions Perfumerias Avenida cruised to a 86-66 win over Beretta-Famila Schio to make it two wins out of two in Euroleague Women Group B.
They wasted little time in establishing their dominance, and a three-pointer from Anna Vajda capped a 10-4 run to end the first quarter, making it 30-17.
Schio tried to come back in the second quarter, with Aija Brumermane's basket making it 39-32 with 2:23 to go until the half, but Avenida finished with a 9-0 run to wipe out their hard work.
The gap would grow to as many as 26, 62-36, in the third quarter before Beretta began to chip away.
An 11-0 run began in the third quarter and continued in the fourth, capped by a three-pointer from Liron Cohen that made it 67-49.
They held their own to the final buzzer, but the win was already safe for the hosts.
Isabel Sanchez led Avenida with 18 points while Dewanna Bonner added 16 and Vajda 10 with nine rebounds.
Laura Macchi had 14 points for Beretta-Famila, while Cheryl Ford added 12.
Avenida outrebounded the visitors 48-26.
Beretta-Famila Schio Head Coach Maurizio Lasi:
"We started too soft, because it is not easy to score thirty points as they did, and they grabbed like twenty rebounds more than us. Both teams were good in the last quarter. Perfumerías Avenida is one of the best teams, a European champion and they have great fans. It is going to be a tough competition for everybody, we will see on the road."
Beretta-Famila Schio player Raffaela Masciardi:
"Of course we knew it was going to be a tough game. In the first quarter, we tried to play with a lot of intensity, and we could sometimes; we tried to do our best on defense. For sure Avenida can get to the next round, they are the EuroLeague Women champions. I think they are the best team of the group so they will have no problem to get to the next round."
Perfumerías Avenida player Lucila Pascua:
"It was a brilliant game. We stopped them until they had no reaction and this win makes us face the next matches with a lot of self-confidence. It was a great struggle to keep them under us and it was a beautiful game for the fans, maybe not so much for us because it was a quite hard game, and we think that when we play in Italy it will be even harder. I feel very good, maybe even better than what I expected to be by now."
Perfumerías Avenida Head Coach Lucas Mondelo:
"It is not only important to win, but also how you win. We've had some automatisms, which is what we are looking forward to play like, and we played really well on defense; they only scored 13 points in the third quarter, which is normally their best quarter in every game. If I had to say what was the best thing of my team, I'd say it was the team work on defense and on offense, and how the players were concentrated throughout the game, even when they were twenty points ahead. The rotations are very important because they keep the players focused and competitive."
