|Sharnee Zoll was at her best as CCC Polkowice recorded their first win against Schio|
CCC Polkowice broke into the win column in thrilling fashion in the EuroLeague Women on Wednesday night in Poland.
Sharnee Zoll had 21 points, 10 assists and three steals to lead the Polish team to a 68-66 win over Beretta-Famila Schio.
The Italian club, trailing by nine late in the third quarter, clawed their way back and went in front at 62-61 with 2:44 remaining when Liron Cohen buried a three-ball.
Gintare Petronyte, the Lithuania national team center, answered with a jumper after catching a pass from Zoll and then Iva Perovanovic drilled a jump shot on a fast break to stretch the lead to 65-62.
The game had a nail-biting finish.
After Janel McCarville replied with a jumper, Zoll scored on a drive to stretch the advantage to 67-63.
Then with 43 seconds to go, Schio kept the pressure on as Maja Erkic scored with a jump shot to reduce the arrears to 67-65.
After Petronyte missed, Schio had a chance to go back in front.
But Petronyte intercepted a McCarville pass, drew a foul from Laura Macchi and sank one of two free-throws.
Following a Schio timeout, Cohen missed from long range and Polkowice held on.
Perovanovic had 15 points for Polkowice while for the Italians, who fell to 1-3 in Group B with the defeat, Macchi scored 15.
