Lotos Gdynia stayed in the hunt for a place in Round 2 in a high-scoring game that will make Javier Fort's team the talk of Polish basketball this week.
Averaging 69.4 points per contest this season, Gdynia had 62 by half-time when they led VICI Aistes by 19 and went on to clinch a 97-80 victory.
The only side to score more points in the 2011-12 is Rivas Ecopolis, who poured in 112 in a 42-point thumping of Frisco Brno on November 9.
Rivas is the club in Spain that Fort coached before accepting an offer from Gdynia at the end of last season.
Gdynia had six players reach double digits in points, led by former EuroLeague Women All Star Geraldine Robert with 21.
The offenses for both sides stood out in the opening quarter when Gdynia stretched a 19-15 lead with 5:11 remaining to 36-27.
Gdynia's Aneika Henry scored 16 points in the game and had 15 of those in the first quarter.
VICI Aistes got no closer than 10 in the second quarter and went to the break trailing, 62-43.
The Kaunas club did threaten to sneak back into the contest at the end.
Down 88-69 with 4:16 to play, the Lithuanian team poured in eight straight points to close the gap to 88-77.
A three-point play by Sandra Linkeviciene reduced the arrears to 90-80 with 1:50 to play.
Former Good Angels Kosice sharpshooter Ivana Jalcova, now on the books of Gdynia, replied with a three-ball and the hosts added two more baskets to come up three points shy of the century mark.
The result has left Gdynia 2-4 in Group A and dropped VICI Aistes to 1-5.
Mantas Sernius, Vici Aistes coach:
"First of all I would like to congratulate to the coach, it was a very good job. We started the first and second quarter very slow. We let them play their basketball, especially we let them play fast, score from the paint and make offensive and defensive rebounds. We couldn't stop them so we lost this game."
Javier Fort Puente, Lotos Gdynia coach:
"It was another very important game for us. We played at home so we had to do our best to win this game. Today we played without Natalia Plumbi and Jolene Anderson so we had only one point guard. But we were focused, played very fast and we played our game."
Courtnay Pilypaitis, Vici Aistes:
"We lost too many offensive and deffensive rebounds. Before the game we knew Lotos' strength but we were not enough focused and we couldn't stop them."
Geraldine Robert, Lotos Gdynia:
"I admire the team from Kaunas, because even though they were down already 25 points they fought and returned to the game. As our coach said we started strong, we were focused and we made a lot of offensive rebounds. We played fast and it was the key for our victory."
