Prague Win Another One On The Road

USK Prague left it late but scraped a 75-71 win at Uni Seat Györ in the EuroLeague Women on Thursday night.

Needing a win to stay within touch of the top sides of Group A and taking on a Hungarian team that had just one victory, Prague trailed 70-68 with 1:29 to go after two free-throws by Iva Ciglar.

After both sides failed to score on their next possession, Eva Viteckova hit a go-ahead three-pointer.

Just as she has done on so many occasions in her career, Viteckova caught a pass, set her feet and launched her successful shot that put Prague on top, 71-70, with 41 seconds to go.

Ticha Penicheiro, who gave the pass to Viteckova, then added two free-throws with 17 seconds to play for a three-point advantage.

Lubor Blazek's side did not allow Györ to attempt a three-ball but instead fouled Quanitra Hollingsworth with 13 seconds to play.

She sank the first, taking her points haul to 18, but missed the second.

Penicheiro claimed the rebound - the point guard's ninth of the contest - and was fouled.

She went to the line and made two free-throws for the 75-71 win final.

Prague's ability to knock down shots from long range was a major factor because they were 10 of 20 compared to Györ's one-of-six effort.

Katerina Elhotova, who had 19 points, was four of seven from arc and Viteckova (18pts) four of eight.

With the victory, Prague improved to 3-3 and leapfrogged Bourges Basket into fourth place.

Bourges (2-4) suffered a defeat to unbeaten Galatasaray in the waning seconds of their game on Wednesday evening in France.
