Zera Butter contributed 7 points and 5 rebounds to the Netherlands' opening win

The Netherlands opened their U20 European Championship Women campaign with a huge 75-42 win over Belarus.

Maxime Essenstam scored 16 points to lead four Dutch players scoring in double figures as Chatilla van Grinsven added 14 with 17 rebounds, Tessel van Dongen scored 12 and Marlou de Klejin had 10.

After a close start, the Dutch began to pull clear midway through the first quarter, with Essenstam's jump-shot sparking a 15-3 run that put them in control.

Belarus kept scrapping, and were still in the game, down by 10 at 36-26, at half-time after a pair of free throws from Maryia Papova.

The Netherlands then scored the first seven points of the second half as they reasserted their dominance.

Another 10-0 run that stretched into the fourth quarter broke the last of the resistance from Belarus as they moved 57-35 ahead, and the Dutch showed no mercy as they outscored Belarus 12-0 in the final 4:16 of action.

The Netherlands dominated in every department, and enjoyed a 64-42 advantage on the boards.
Nadzeya Bohdan was the only Belarus player to score in double figures with 13.
