Serbia got off to the perfect start on home soil as they beat Ukraine 81-51 in the opening game of their U20 European Championship Women Group A campaign in Novi Sad.
Serbia pulled clear late in the first quarter, with Sara Krnjic's jump-shot sparking a 9-2 run that turned a 12-11 deficit into a 20-14 lead at the buzzer.
The charge continued in the second quarter, led by Maja Vucurovic, who split a pair of free throws and then made a jump-shot to start a 7-0 run that put them 28-16 on top.
A three-pointer from Jelena Prvulovic made it 36-22 as they built their advantange before half-time.
The onslaught continued in the second half, with a pair of free throws from Krnjic midway through the third quarter making it 55-33.
The lead approached 30 as, cheered on by an enthusiastic crowd in Novi Sad, Serbia kept up the heat throughout the final quarter, but Olesia Malashenko kept battling away for Ukraine and her free-throws and lay-up stopped the bleeding to make it 71-47.
However, Serbia would eventually reach the milestone, with a late three-pointer from Marina Markovic making it 81-51.
Krnjic led Serbia with 16 points and nine rebounds, while Prvlovic and Vucurovic had 10 points each.
Malashenko scored 19 points in vain for Ukraine, with Alina Iagupova adding 12.
