Giants Survive Against BC "Minsk-2006"

Antwerp Giants turned back a brave BC "Minsk-2006" on Tuesday evening to claim a place in the EuroChallenge.

The visitors from Belarus had come from nine points down in the fourth quarter to knot last week's first leg at 87-87, and on Tuesday night they pushed the Belgian team to the wire.

Andrei Krivonos' team from Minsk fell behind by 12 points late in the first half before going to the changing rooms behind 69-62.

After Tywain McKee capped a 7-0 run at the beginning of the third quarter to pull the visitors level, Roel Moors and Darnell Wilson replied with a lay-up and jump shot, respectively, to put the hosts back in front to stay.

"Minsk-2006" kept the game close and only trailed 84-80 with 57 seconds to go after Aliaksandr Kudrautsau earned a trip to the line and made the first of two free-throws.

He missed the second attempt, however, and Antwerp scored the last four points of the contest.

Wilson had 17 points and Strickland 15 for the Giants, with Graham Brown (10 pts) also coming a rebound shy of a double-double.

The men from Minsk got a game-high 18 points from McKee.
