GAME REPORT

Balanced Attack Wins It For Prostejov

BK Prostejov picked up their second win in EuroChallenge Group L with a 99-82 victory over basement-dwellers BC Zadar.

Zelimir Zagorac scored 18 points to lead six players scoring in double figures but they did not have things all their own way.

After racing into a 21-11 lead in the first quarter, they saw Zadar clamber back to level the scores at 28-28 on Pavle Marcinkovic's jump-shot at the start of the second quarter.

Zadar's run continued as they scored the first 10 points of the period to lead 36-28 on Miro Bilan's jumper.

Prostejov could not get back on level terms until the start of the second half, when Benas Veikalas sunk a three-pointer on a fast-break to make it 45-45.

Another three from Veikalas moments later gave the hosts the lead back at 48-47 and they edged away until yet another bomb from the Lithiuanian guard gave them a double-digit advantage, 62-52.

They were rarely troubled again, and pulled away in the fourth quarter to enjoy a comfortable win.

Eugene Lawrence scored 16 points for Prostejov while dishing out 12 assists, while Kyle Landry had 15 points.

Andrius Slezas and Veikalas chipped in with 13 each, while Bertengeh Gadri had 12 and eight rebounds.

Bilan finished with 23 points and nine rebounds for Zadar, while Marko Car had 18 points, Ivan Batur 12 and Mario Dundovic 10.

COACH QUOTES

Quotes BK Prostejov vs. BC Zadar

BC Zadar Head Coach Tihomir Bujan:
"First of all, congratulations to Prostejov. They played better game today and they won. Beside the second quarter, that we played well, we played bad the other quarters. We could say that we had a long trip, we did not have our foreign players. However, we should do better in the second half and should put more energy into the game. Therefore, I am not satisfied."

BC Zadar player Miro Bilan:
"First half was very good for us, but in the beginning of the second we made so many mistakes. They were breaking us very fast, the big guys, but also the small guys. Everybody wanted to decide the match himself and that is not good. We are very young team and we should put more energy into the game."

BK Prostejov Head Coach Peter Balint:
"We begun very well, but then, we made four fatal mistakes in defence and we thought that the opponent would beat himself. Then I had to talk with the players and we started to shoot better. The second half was far better than the first. Zadar came without the players from abroad, so we kept high tempo and won."

BK Prostejov player Zelimir Zagorac:
"We begun well, but then, who knows why, we stopped to play good. We came back in the third quarter and that is what we want to play in the next game. We will try to give the best game."
