|Cyril Akpomedah led BCM Gravelines Dunkerque to a comeback victory over the Dolphins|
BCM Gravelines-Dunkerque remained unbeaten in the EuroChallenge Last 16 after digging deep and pulling out a 94-87 victory at upset-minded Norrkoping Dolphins in Sweden.
Fresh off their Semaine des As final triumph in France, Gravelines travelled to Scandinavia and overcame a determined Dolphins outfit that made the visitors work until the final buzzer.
Gravelines, who hit 10 of 20 shots from long range, faced a 61-54 deficit late in the third quarter.
With 2:38 to go in the frame, Cyril Akpomedah started the comeback with two free-throws and a jump shot.
That flurry of points sparked a 13-0 run that was capped by a Yannick Bokolo lay-up at the end of the third quarter.
The Dolphins reduced the arrears to 67-65 with 9:08 to play, but Akpomedah struck again, this time from long range.
Norrkoping refused to go away.
Down 81-73, Joakim Kjellbom made two free-throws before Anton Saks and Kjellbom scored with put-backs.
A Kjellbom jumper took his points haul to 23 and reduced the gap to 82-81 with 2:39 to play.
Jeffrey Greer answered with a three-pointer for Gravelines, only for Kjellbom to reply with a jump shot.
After Greer missed from the arc, Dounia Issa grabbed the offensive rebound and then Ben Woodside made a lay-up to take the lead back to four.
The Dolphins continued to fight but Gravelines had their noses in front to stay.
Kjellbom couldn't have done much more for Norrkoping.
He finished with 27 points and 11 rebounds.
Akpomedah led the winners with 24 and Woodside ended up with 21.
Issa finished with a team-high 11 rebounds for Gravelines, six of them coming on the offensive glass.
Kelly Grant, Dolphins head coach:
"We have to play stabile for 40 minutes to win. This was a tough lost for us. Now we got to win against Ventspils on the road."
Christian Monschau, Gravelines head coach:
"The Dolphins are a very good team with a nice organisation. We weren´t tired today, but we struggled."
Joakim Kjellbom, Dolphins player:
"I had many good opportunities today, but missed some of them. We had 2-3 minutes with less concentration and at that moment we lost the cntrol of the game. They are a good team, both strong under the baskets and outside."
