Pinar Karsiyaka left no doubt about their potential to go all the way in this season's EuroChallenge by romping to a 94-71 victory over Dexia Mons-Hainaut in the Last 16 on Tuesday.
The Turkish club got 19 points apiece from Jovo Stanojevic and Andre Smith as they improved to 3-0 in Group J and dropped Dexia to 1-2.
The Karsiyaka defense forced Dexia to turn the ball over 23 times, including a game-high six by Marcus Hatten.
The 21-year-old Birkan Batuk had four steals and Osiris Eldridge came up with three for Karsiyaka.
Dexia trailed by 16 in the first half before reducing the deficit to 46-36 at the break on a four-point play by Ben McCauley.
Arik Shivek's side never managed to get the Karsiyaka lead to single digits, though.
The hosts, on top 61-45 with 5:21 to go in the third quarter, blew the game wide open with a 10-0 run.
McCauley finished with 19 points for Dexia.
"After loosing a game in the national league, against Galatasaray, my team and players overcame son and won an important game. Now we have a breakand start again against Antwerp. Thinking all the games one by one, our next issue is Antwerp Giants."
Player Andre Smith for Pınar Karşıyaka:
"An Important game, step by step we are going on our way. I appreciate my team mates, coach, management, and fans."
Coach Arik Shvek for Dexia Mons:
"Today we played against the hardest team of the group, and we lost. Many times as a coach I played against a Turkish team, and today exactly a turkish team was against us on the court, with tough defense and smart offence. What I said to my players in the locker room after the game I honestly want to repeat; loosing a game against to such a good team as Pınar Karşıyaka is not a shame, only there can be lessons to get. And the lesson for today is how much a team can play an intensive basketball both at offence and defence."
Player Alexandre Libert for Dexia Mons:
"We started well in the first quarter and finished by 5 points, but that was only the part we played well. Esspecially the second half, when Pınar Karşıyaka increased the presure, took us out of the way and made amazing shots. Congratulations to our opponent."
