Enterprise BC Dynamo routed Steaua-Turabo 88-60 in Tuesday night's EuroChallenge opener for both sides.
In the Group F encounter, the visitors from Romania had an early 4-2 lead when a pair of Russian internationals helped Dynamo take command for good.
Evgeny Voronov came up with a steal and scored on a fastbreak to tie the game and Enterprise then got a basket from Nikita Shabalkin before Dmitriy Khvostov drilled a three-ball.
Vasily Zavoruev capped the early spurt with another shot from long range that gave Sergey Bazarevich's team a 12-4 lead.
Voronov and Khvostov both played at the FIBA World Championship in Turkey this summer and helped Russia reach the Quarter-Finals.
Two Khvostov free-throws late in the first quarter extended the lead to 20-11 and when he sank two more late in the second, the advantage ballooned to 47-32.
Enterprise blew out the visitors in the second half for a resounding victory.
Vasily Zavoruev had 23 points, Shabalkin 20 and Khvostov 19 for the winners.
Virgil Stanescu poured in 20 in a losing effort.
Enterprise Dynamo Head Coach Sergey Bazarevich:
"Before the game it was kind of sad because we missed Domani and Zhukanenko. This win is important for us because we wanted to start with the win. We have 3 road games ahead, the situation would be really tough."
Moscow Player Nikita Shabalkin:
"This win gave us some confidence. We lost in national championship before, so this victory is very important. We were focused on a good play to show our best. We have a lot of injured players but on the other side it can happen any time. So we could make our game differently then we planned and we succeeded."
Bucharest Head Coach NIKSA BAVCEVIC:
"Dynamo played good tempo. For us such a rookie game was an opportunity to learn. We are good in Romania, but in Europe it is completely different. We are not used to such basketball altough we have experienced players. I'm with the team for 15 days only, but definitely I can not be satisfied with the game. Dynamo showed that they have character and prospects. I hope for revenge in our next game."
Bucharest Player Virgil Stanescu:
"We knew that Dynamo is a tough team for us. Although we came to win. Unfortunately we had a terrible game and we found out that Dynamo was really motivated missing 2 players and it put them more motivation on the court."
