16.11.2010

Antwerp Giants needed two overtimes but won 87-83 in the EuroChallenge over Lokomotiv Kuban on Tuesday.

7. Bryan Hopkins (Antwerp Giants)
Bryan Hopkins was good for 24 points and 6 rebounds in a hard fought game

Bryan Hopkins hit a go-ahead three-pointer with 3:52 left in the second extra period to propel the hosts to victory.

A great defensive play by the hosts sent the game to the first overtime.

With the score knotted at 66-66, Salah Mejri blocked a Lionel Chalmers jump shot just five seconds from the end.

Antwerp led by six in the first overtime but Jeremiah Massey's tip-in off a Chalmers' miss with 1:09 to go tied the game at 74-74.

Neither side scored the rest of the extra period with Mejri's jumper off target just two seconds from the death.

After Hopkins' three put Antwerp in front, a Goran Jeretin shot from the arc for Lokomotiv closed the gap to 83-82.

Lokomotiv center Mike Wilkinson ended up with a chance to tie the game with 22 seconds to go in the second OT but made just one of two free-throws to leave his side down 84-83.

Antwerp added three more free-throws to ice the victory.

Hopkins had 24 points to lead Antwerp while Chalmers had 20 in defeat.
