GAME REPORT

KRKA Send Prostejov Crashing To First Defeat

KRKA avenged their season-opening defeat to BK Prostejov by handing the Czech side its first setback in Group E of the EuroChallenge.

In Novo Mesto, Christopher Booker had 13 points and nine rebounds as KRKA rolled to a 78-62 triumph.

Both sides are now 3-1.

The margin of victory gives KRKA a better goal differential in their head-to-head meetings with Prostejov, who won the first meeting by 12 points.

That could be important in a couple of weeks if tie-breakers are needed to determine the final places in Regular Season standings.

Leading 32-28 early in the second half, KRKA lowered the boom by going on a 16-5 run with Booker pouring in six points and Dusan Djordjevic five.

By the end of the quarter, the hosts had a 53-35 advantage.

They cruised over the last 10 minutes for an important win.

Benas Veikalas had a game-high 24 points in defeat.

COACH QUOTES

Quotes KRKA vs. BK Prostejov

BK Prostejov Head Coach Peter Balint:
"The game was very tough. Krka played very well in defense and we missed too many open shots. With such a play we couldn't win. In the last five minutes we made some shots and improved the result a little."

BK Prostejov player Benas Veikalas:
"As our coach said, they did a good analysis of our game, they knew what they're doing and they made the game really tough. Third quarter was too bad and we couldn't get back."

KK Krka Head Coach Aleksandar Džikić:
"I'm satisfied with the win and not so satisfied with our control in the end of the game when they wanted to lose with less than what we did in Prostejov. Prostejov is an excellent team with an excellent coach and each player knows exactly what to do. It was very hard to prepare our game. We had to control rebounds and we made it. It was a game between the best two teams in our group and I hope that both teams will go further."

KK Krka player Bojan Krivec:
"It was a very tough game. Prostejov is a very good team. We played quite good during most time of the game but in the end we lost some concentration in defense. It's good that we beat them with a higher difference that they beat us in the Czech Republic."
