GAME REPORT

Bonn In The Hunt!

Telekom Baskets Bonn won the first overtime game in the EuroChallenge Regular Season and did so on the road.

Jacobs Jaacks (Telekom Baskets)
Jacobs Jaacks and the Telekom Baskets escaped with a close win from Zagreb

Taking on BC Zagreb in Croatia, Michael Koch's team prevailed 100-96.

Bonn had led by nine points in the first half but Zagreb fought back and the game turned into a thriller.

With his team trailing 83-80, Bonn's Jeremy Hunt tied the contest with a shot from the arc just 29 seconds from the end.

He then had a chance to win at the death but was off target with a jumper.

Mark Tyndale started the overtime with a three-pointer for Bonn and they went in front by as many as eight points.

Zagreb refused to go away and twice pulled to within one.

Gregory Renfroe's three-pointer reduced the Bonn lead to 95-94, only for Hunt to answer with a jump shot.

Mario Kasun then dunked to close the gap to 97-96.

After Zagreb fouled Tyndale and he split two free-throws, Hunt's defense sealed victory when he intercepted a pass by Damir Mulaomerovic.

Hunt made two free-throws to finish the game and take his tally 25 points.

Luka Zoric, the Croatia international, led all players with 29 points in defeat.

COACH QUOTES

Quotes KK Zagreb vs. Telekom Baskets

Telekom Baskets Head Coach Michael Koch:
"This was a very difficult game because it was the first game on the road. It was a good offense game where we scored 100 pts in overtime. We played good on the outside and on the inside and dominated in the rebound. Although we let Zagreb score easy points, eventually we managed to win playing good defense. Considering a lot of injuries we are happy to return to Germany with the win from this game."

Zagreb Croatia osiguranje Head Coach Denis Bajramovic:
"This is an unsuccessful start for us opening the season in this competion. Congratulations to the opponents, they were more motivated and deserved to win. They did much less mistakes during the game, and we were too nervous and paid for it losing the game. At the end of the game they had 10 rebounds more than us, had more steals nad playing more aggressively. The game didn't develop the way we planned and we became nervous and in the very finals it was too expensive for us."

Telekom Baskets Player Jeremy Hunt:
"We have played an excellent game, one of the best in this season, and we managed to surprise Zagreb although some players didn't play. This an important victory for us because it gives us security to go on playing and make it possible to play in more relaxed way to be in the first two on the list. Perhaps we could have won the game without the overtime, we played better during the whole game but it's not important any more, we have won."

Zagreb Croatia osiguranje player Luka Zoric:
"The first half was a disaster, we allowed them to score 52 points. In the second half we managed to return and lead playing zone, we had the chance to win at the end of the game but when we missed the chance to solve the game in 40 minutes, we became restless and we lost in the overtime. This lost game is not a big deal, we still have 5 games to go and play for the placement in the next round of the competition. We will have to play much better than tonight to achieve it."
