GAME REPORT

Popovic Leads Spartak Past Gravelines

Petar Popovic scored 27 points to lead a one-sided rout as Spartak demolished Gravelines Dunkerque 98-58.

In a ruthless and totally dominant performance Spartak seized control in the opening quarter and never let up, with some suffocating defence preventing the hosts from contemplating any kind of fightback.

A 21-4 run that spanned the first and second quarters put Spartak up 40-19 and from there on the result was never in doubt.

Spartak shot 35 of 49 (71.4%) from two-point range as they had their way with the Gravelines defence, while holding their opponents to 18 of 44 (40.9%) shooting from two-point range and just two of 17 (11.7%) from beyond the arc.

Spartak also outrebounded the French 45-30.

Dijon Thompson collected 15 points and 10 rebounds for Spartak, while Henry Domercant added 12.

Yannick Bokolo was the only Gravelines player to score in double figures with 12 points.

COACH QUOTES

Quotes BCM Gravelines Dunkerque vs Spartak St Petersburg

Spartak Guard Henry DOMERCANT:
"We played a very good game tonight. I'm proud of my team and my teamates. I also want to congratulate our staff who did a very good job in scouting this Gravelines team."

Spartak Head Coach Zvi SHERF:
"I'm very happy for the win. When we were up 21, we stayed focused on the game. We played a very good basketball tonight. Popovic had his best game of this season, scoring 27 points in the first half but got injured a the begining of the second half. I hope is injury is not so bad."

Graveline Player Dounia ISSA:
"It was a difficult game for us tonight. Spartak played a very good basketball and they were smart. They play on Euroleague level. We didn't enter the game the right way, giving them the opportunity to give the ball to Popovic in the paint."

Gravelines Head Coach Christian MONSCHAU:
"Before the game, we decided to let our captain, Cyril Akpomedah, on the bench because of a little injury. Spartak did a great job. They have a strong roster that makes them play agressively. They played at their best level."
