Spartak St Petersburg stormed into the Last 16 of the EuroChallenge with their fifth win in six Group A games on Tuesday and completed a sweep of Russian rivals BC NN.
Having already locked up first place, and with Nizhny Novogorod just 1-4 and out of contention, Zvi Sherf's men claimed a 92-83 triumph.
Henry Domercant poured in a game-high 23 points for Spartak, who out-rebounded their opponents 39-28.
The visitors stayed in the contest until the end as they hit nine of 23 (39.1%) shots from behind the arc compared to just three of 18 (16.6%) for Spartak.
Spartak did capitalize on making numerous trips to the free-throw line by sinking 31 of 36 (86.1%) of their attempts.
BC NN got 15 points from Valiantsin Yurchyk.
Nizhny Novgorod Head Coach Zoran Lukic:
"I gave time today to our young players. They have a possibility to show themselves. They showed character today. Yes, we missed a lot of points but it's because of the difference in levels of the teams. But we allowed Spartak to win almost 10 points because my players tried to teach the coach how to play basketball and they didn't do what I asked."
Spartak Head Coach Zvi Sherf:
"It was like a practice game. For both teams the result wasn't important. It was our last game before the break and now we have it. After the rest we return more fresh and strong. And we'll come to the next round."
Spartak player Evgeny Kolesnikov:
"We played good enough in offence but bad in defence. We took more than 90 points but missed more than 80 points. It's not good. We understood that we had to win 15 points or over. "
