GAME REPORT

Avenida Complete Wisla Sweep

Halcon Avenida needed just two games to beat Wisla Can-Pack Krakow and book a place in the EuroLeague Women Final Four.

Led by the outstanding Belgian sharpshooter and Avenida veteran Anke De Mondt, the Spanish outfit won Game 2 in Poland on Friday night, 72-60.

De Mondt made seven of 10 shots from the field, including one of two from behind the arc, en route to 15 points.

She also finished with five rebounds, three assists and a steal.

Avenida, who reached the Final in Salamanca two years ago when current Wisla boss Jose Hernandez was their coach, also got solid contributions from Alba Torrens, Silvia Dominguez and Sancho Lyttle.

Torrens scored 14, Dominguez 10 and Lyttle nine.

All three are in Spain's national squad, which has been coached by Hernandez since last summer.

Avenida went into the game on the back of an 87-70 Game 1 triumph on Tuesday in Salamanca.

Lyttle got them off to a fast start by hitting two jump shots, and Brazil international Erika de Souza drilled a third as Avenida took a 6-0 lead.

Wisla replied with an Erin Phillips three-ball and a Yelena Leuchanka jumper, but Avenida kept their noses in front.

De Mondt poured in Avenida's last seven points of the opening quarter and they had a 17-11 advantage.

Torrens had four points in a 10-4 run to begin the second frame for a 27-17 lead, and the visitors eventually went in front 33-19 after two free-throws by Torrens.

Wisla managed to claw the deficit back to 43-38 midway through the third quarter following baskets by Ewelina Kobryn and Gunta Basko, but Avenida tightened their grip on the game shortly after.

On top 47-40, De Mondt buried a jumper, Anna Montanana followed with a three-ball, Torrens add a three-point play and De Mondt hit another jump shot for a 57-40 lead.

The lead grew to 22 in the fourth quarter before Avenida walked off the court with a 12-point triumph.

Belarus international Yelena Leuchanka had a game-high 19 points in defeat for Wisla, who will now try to win the Polish title.
