EUROLEAGUE WOMENUMMC Ekaterinburg needed overtime to complete a sweep of Rivas Ecopolis and advance to the last eight of the EuroLeague Women with an 83-74 win.
Both teams had a chance to win it in a topsy-turvy close to regulation time, but once the extra period had begun, it was one way traffic as UMMC outscored their hosts 13-4.
Rivas had led 64-60 with four minutes of the fourth quarter left, but Maria Stepanova's lay-up started a 6-0 UMMC run as Olga Arteshina and Cappie Pondexter added baskets.
Courtney Paris got one back from the free-throw line, but the score swung back in Rivas' favour as Dewanna Bonner's three-pointer put them 68-66 up.
It was 70-66 on Amaya Valdemoro's lay-up with 55 seconds left, but late scores from Sandrine Gruda and Celine Dumerc forced the extra period as Valdermoro missed Rivas' final chance and Arteshina came up short for UMMC.
The sides traded baskets at the start of overtime, but Pondexter's jump-shot started a 6-0 run and it was Pondexter and her fellow American Candace Parker that finished the job.
Pondexter and Arteshina each had 19 points for UMMC, while Parker added 16 and Gruda 13.
Bonner led all scorers with 22 points, while Paris added 18 for Rivas and Valderomo 14.
