|Point guard Edwige Lawson-Wade led her team to a blow out win in half time two|
Ros Casares blew out MKB Euroleasing Sopron in the second half and claimed an 84-56 win in the first game of the EuroLeague Women Eighth-Finals tie.
Edwige Lawson and Rebbekah Brunson scored 16 points apiece to lead the way for the Spanish club.
Only trailing 50-44 four minutes into the second half, Hungarians Sopron hit a major drought.
With Ros pouring in the points, the visitors did not score again until Edit Ratkainé Eördögh hit a jumper with 7:38 to play.
By then, it was too late.
Ros had a 66-46 lead and they cruised to victory.
The Ros Casares defense deserved much of the credit for the success as it forced Sopron to commit 20 turnovers in the game.
Brunson had 12 rebounds for the winners, and Spain international Cindy Lima weighed in with eight points, eight boards and three steals.
Ros will go after a 2-0 sweep when the two sides meet again in Hungary on Friday night.
Jordi Fernández, Ciudad Ros Casares Coach:
"We've changed our defense in the second half, so we could obtain a new goal. In offense I'm pleased about the work of all my players but specially Cindy Lima and Katie Douglas."
Nobert Székely coach:
"We've lost a lot of balls in the second half. Before the match, I had said that Ros Casares is one of the best teams in Europe, and this night we can look at it."
Sonia Reis , Ciudad Ros Casares Center:
"It's my first game in Euroleage Women and I was very nervous, but I'm extremely happy too, because the team won."
