Bourges Basket secured second place in EuroLeague Women Group D as they eased to a big 70-50 win over Beretta-Famila.
Bourges wasted no time in making their intentions clear as they scored the first nine points of the game, and they were up 21-6 with a little under a minute to go in the opening period following Paoline Salagnac's lay-up.
A 7-0 start to the second period made it 30-8 and Beretta's night was effectively over.
Athough the visitors were able to stop the bleeding, the gap stuck at close to 20 points almost the entire night, bar a brief rally which even then only cut it to 12, 45-33, in the third quarter.
Catherine Joens led Bourges with 18 points while Endene Miyem added 16. Anael Lardy also reached double figures with 10.
Maja Erkic led the resistance for Beretta with 16 points while Liron Cohen had 15.
Pierre Vincent, head coach Bourges Basket:
"It was a very good game, very efficient, with lots of successful shoots. The players have kept a good rhythm and intensity during the whole game. It is always a big challenge to play against Schio because they have a very balanced team."
Sandro Orlando, head coach Beretta Famila:
"I'm disappointed that my players never found their way into this game, especially our key players. This should be a lesson for us for the next game - it's always difficult to come back after a slow start."
Endene Miyem, Bourges Basket:
"I'm very happy that we won this game tonight. We were mentally strong and very motivated. For me personally I'm happy that my individual training on my weaknesses paid off and that I had a good game."
Maja Erkic, Beretta-Famila:
"Our slow start in this game is what killed us. We never gave up but still couldn't win this game. We didn't play our best basketball tonight."
