Ros Casares finished the EuroLeague Women Qualifying Round with a convincing triumph at Frisco Sika Brno on Wednesday night. Leading from start to finish, Jordi Fernandez's team rolled to a 98-49 victory. Katy Douglas, who had a game-high 35 points for Ros, capped a 10-0 to start the game for the Valencia team with a jumper. Brno didn't score until nearly four minutes into the contest when Romana StehlĂková buried a three to make it 10-3. A shot from the arc by Douglas late in the first quarter gave Ros a 24-10 advantage and the blowout was on when Edwige Lawson connected from behind the arc to make it 27-10 for the Spanish team. Ros had a huge lead the rest of the way, going to half-time with a 50-20 stranglehold on proceedings. Douglas, who may play for Greece at the EuroBasket Women in June, already had 20 points at the break. The lead grew to 71-28 late in the fourth when Douglas made two free-throws to give her 32 points for the night. Ros cruised over the last 10 minutes and walked off the floor with the 49-point success. Spain international Marta Fernandez weighed in with 20 points for Ros, who won eight of their 10 games in Group D. |
