After squeezing out a narrow win last week against ZVVZ USK Prague, Tarbes GB had high hopes of securing successive home victories in EuroLeague Women Group C but couldn't find the defensive stops to prevent visiting Halcon Avenida picking up a 77-72 success.
In a real roller-coaster of a game that had the fans in suspense right up until the closing stages, it was Salamanca who made the best start as they built up a 25-18 lead after the end of the first quarter.
When Sancho Lyttle put the visitors 34-25 ahead with just over five minutes to go until the interval, it looked ominous for Tarbes but they rallied and changed the entire reflection of the game by the time the half-time buzzer was sounded.
Led by Jelena Dubljevic, they finished with a 14-5 run to ensure the game was tied up at 39-39.
Both teams held marginal leads during the third with a triple by Belinda Snell levelling matters at 55-55 when the home side had threatened to put some daylight between the teams.
After a further basket by each team, the fourth quarter started level and with the game in the balance, it was Halcon Avenida who found the strength to pull away with a 9-2 run when it mattered during the middle part of the quarter.
That gave them the cushion they needed down the stretch and just enough to hang on to a third win from three games.
Belinda Snell finished with 17 points for Halcon Avenida while Sancho Lyttle had 11 points and 11 rebounds.
Dubljevic finished with a game high 24 points for the losing team.
