MKB EuroLeasing avoided a third straight loss in EuroLeague Women by getting back to winning ways with a powerful final four minutes of action helping them to rack up an 82-68 success at home to Gospic Croatia who were made to pay for a catastrophic finish.
The hosts pounded their opponents incessantly inside and eventually the visitors cracked in the closing minutes meaning they are yet to record a win in Group B.
In what was shaping up to be a thrilling contest down the stretch at 66-66, Gospic Croatia disintegrated as Sopron finished with a 16-2 run to runaway with victory.
This included 9 straight points from the influential Angel McCoughtry who recorded a double-double of 20 points and 10 rebounds.
More powerful inside and dominant on the boards, the extra strength of MKB EuroLeasing eventually prevailed although they found it hard work against the visitors who will be kicking themselves for their sloppy finish.
Gospic had trailed by as many as eleven points in the first half and had worked hard to get themselves back into the game before they fell apart down the stretch.
The defeat was particularly harsh on Sandra Mandir who sunk five triples in a 19 point haul while Marija Vrsaljko had 10 points and 10 rebounds.
