Cras Basket Taranto moved back to the top of EuroLeague Women Group A after completing a 68-40 rout of Pecs 2010 who endured another horror show offensively as they continue to go into freefall with this fourth straight loss.
The hosts held the Hungarian side to a paltry 24 points in the first half and if that seemed bad when the visitors sat in the locker room at the interval then surely they , must have been dismayed when they returned after the final buzzer to reflect on an abject tally of just 16 points during the second half.
Cras Basket Taranto were only up by six at 30-24 and far from fluent themselves at the midway point of the game but they didn't have to do too much to come out with a fourth win in five games.
While shocking offensively, the visitors also had trouble containing Cras Basket Taranto inside and allowed their opponents to shoot over 60%, a far cry from their own percentage of just 28%.
Things would have been even worse for Pecs had Cras Basket Taranto actually made some outside shots on a consistent basis but the one thing both teams had in common was that neither of them could hit very much at all from downtown.
The real trouble for Pecs came during the third quarter when they could only muster 6 points in ten minutes of action and with the hosts pouring in 19 at the other end of the floor, it was the end of the game as a meaningful contest ahead of the last period,
Megan Mahoney and Brooke Smith were both 7 of 10 inside as for the Italian Champions as the former claimed 14 points and the latter 16.
