GAME REPORT

Netherlands End Summer With Win Over Estonia

Netherlands brought the curtain down on Division B action for the summer with a third straight win after an impressive first half and yet another powerful performance by Henk Norel helped them secure a 90-76 win against Estonia.

With little to separate the teams during the opening exchanges at 9-9, the home team suddenly began to shift through the gears early and found themselves with a double-figure lead at 22-11 after a triple by Stefan Wessels.

They still held a double-digit lead at the end of the first quarter after another outside score this time by Kees Akerboom. Things didn't get any better for Estonia during the second quarter as the fans in Almere watched the home favourites step on the gas and surge into a 49-35 advantage by the break.

Estonia tried to haul themselves back into the game but couldn't make any significant inroads during the third period and were still down by 15 points heading into the last ten minutes.

It was a similar story in the last quarter for Estonia who managed to keep pace with their hosts but never launched any kind of serious comeback bid - a last gasp three-pointer by Rain Veideman adding a little more respectability to the final score-line.

Norel finished the game with 21 points, 8 assists and 5 rebounds to further enhance his reputation while Tanel Sokk and Janar Talts combined for 41 points for Estonia including eight triples.

COACH QUOTES

Quotes Netherlands vs. Estonia

Netherlands Head Coach Gadi Kedar:
"Estland is a tough team to play with a lot of creativity. Offensively we want to bring the ball to our big guys. It wasn't easy, but we played very smart today. And I'm glad we got Arvin Slagter and Francisco Elson back today."

Netherlands Player Henk Norel:
"This was probably our best game of the three. We did it well on both ends of the floor. We're still not

Estonia Head Coach Tiit Sokk:

"We came to win, but they deserved the win. They forced us to make turnovers and we gave them a 14 point lead at halftime. We almost fought back, but we made some stupid decisions."

Estonia Player Janar Talts:
"Netherlands were great in offence and defence. We were undersized and had too many turnovers. Today they were the better team. Everybody scores and makes some three pointers.
