Israel booked their place at the EuroBasket Women finals as they saw off Romania 79-72 to secure top spot in Group B.
Israel's win, combined with a big Latvia victory over Serbia, sees Israel go top with Latvia joining them in Poland next summer as Serbia drop from first to third.
Israel led almost from start to finish as superior shooting carried them home.
However, they could never shake off Romania completely as the visitors put up a tough fight in their search for a first win of the qualifying campaign.
Ekaterina Abramzon put Israel up 27-17 late in the first quarter but a 6-0 Romania run put them right back in it, and that is how the game went as every Israel run was countered by another from the visitors.
They got within one point, 55-54, on Simina Mandache's three-pointer late in the third quarter but could never edge ahead.
An early run from Israel put them up 73-59 on Abramzon's lay-up midway through the final quarter, and although Romania rallied there was no way back.
Liron Cohen led Israel with 27 points, while Shay Doron added 21 and Abramzon had 10.
Gabriela Marginean's 16 led Romania while Claudia Pop added 15.
"It was a hard game because we played against a team that has nothing to loose.
the girls were very tired and nervous. its a big achievement, it was a very big effort for us, but it ended in the best way for us.
"We will come ready and modest to the EuroBasket."
Israel Guard Liron Cohen:
"We are in a process, we're getting better each year. We want to have a first win in the EuroBasket. We have a talented team, I believe in this generation in the Israeli Woman's Basketball."
