Belgium Make Georgia Fade Away
Belgium kept up their bid to top Group C in the EuroBasket qualifying with an 86-63 win in Georgia. Marcus Faison scored 16 points to lead four players in double figures as Belgium improved to 4-1.
Poland can go top of the group with victory in Portugal later on Friday, although they have played a game more.
Axel Hervelle and Christophe Beghin had 15 points each, while Sam van Rossom added 13 in a dominating Belgian performance.
Georgia raced into a 9-2 lead, but that did not last long as Belgium quickly came back.
The teams exchanged baskets, but Belgium took the lead for good on Dimitri Lauwers' three-pointer midway through the second quarter.
That was part of a 15-2 run that put Belgium up 36-27 before half-time.
A 12-2 run that spanned the third and fourth quarters increased the Belgian lead to 67-46 and it was clear Georgia were not coming back.
Zaza Pachulia and Taurean Green had 11 points each to lead Georgia.
