GAME REPORT

Britain Hold On For Victory In Sarajevo

Great Britain improved to a perfect 3-0 to top Group B of the EuroBasket 2011 Qualifying Round with a tough 84-80 win over Bosnia and  Herzegovina in Sarajevo on Wednesday night.

While Britain came storming back to force overtime against FYR of Macedonia- and eventually win - on Sunday, this time Chris Finch's team had to dig deep to hold on down the stretch.

They led 82-76 after Pops Mensah-Bonsu's free-throw with 18 seconds left.

But Bosnia were not done yet and Feliks Kojadinovic hit a three-pointer with 12 seconds remaining.

Nate Reinking, who was on fire on the night, suffered two rare misses from the free-throw line to keep Bosnia alive, with Kojadinovic splitting a pair at the line to cut the gap to two.

With only four seconds left, they were forced to foul, and this time Reinking came up with the goods for Britain, giving them a four-point advantage Bosnia could do nothing about.

Dan Clark scored 23 points in his best game for Britain to date, while Reinking finished with 21.

Deng and Mensah-Bonsu both had 16 points, with Mensah-Bonsu adding 13 rebounds.

Ratko Varda led Bosnia with 20 points while Kenan Bajramovic had 16, and Kojadinovic and Henry Domercant added 14 each.

COACH QUOTES

Quotes Bosnia and Herzegovina vs. Great Britain

Bosnia and Herzegovina Head Coach Sabit Hadžić:
„We played very well against the very strong team of Great Britain, but the lack of our two important players Gordić and Đedović cost us the win in this game because we didn't had enough rotation and the strenght at the end of the game. Also, there wasn't a player who can take the responsability in the crutial parts of the game. Something similar happend to us in Hungary."

Great Britain Head Coach Chris Finch:
„This was a big win for us. We didn't play that good, a lot of things were against us. The hosts were playing a very good defence on Deng and Mensah - Bonsu, but there were other players who took the responsability"
