GAME REPORT

Belarus No Match For Unbeaten Belgium

Already qualified Belgium beat Belarus 65-51 for their third time in a row at the U16 European Championship Women in Ptolemaida and Kozani.

Belgium remained as one of three teams that are still unbeaten in the tournament. On the opposing side Belarus suffered their third loss and they will play to stay in Division A.

Prior to the game Belgian head coach Daniel Goethals pointed out his team would not make the mistake to underestimate the winless Belarussian team.

The Belgians captured the lead early on and finished the first quarter 22-17. Things looked good for them for the most part in the second quarter as well but in the last minutes before halftime Belarus were able to catch up. Belarus reduced the deficit to a single point at halftime (32-31).

Belgium came out of the break with a vengeance. They outscored Belarus 23-7 in the third period en route to a comfortable 55-38 lead.

The game never got close again in the fourth. In the end Belgium posted a clear 65-51 win. Antonia Delaere scored 16 points for the winning side. Hanna Kalenta and Maryia Papova contributed 11 points a piece for Belarus.

Belarus are looking to avoid relegation in the Classification Round.
