Star man Alessandro Gentile has admitted anger at losing badly to Spain was the motivation for an impressive 80-65 win for Italy over Slovenia as the Azzurri breathed life back into their campaign at the U20 European Championship Men 2010 in Croatia.
Speaking after he recorded a game-high 22 points in Makarska, Gentile was already thinking ahead - both hoping and preparing himself for the possibility of a quarter final place and monumental challenge against defending champions Greece.
"It was a hard game because Slovenia are a good opponent even though they have lost every game in the Qualifying Round.
"We were angry at our performance against Spain yesterday and this game was our reaction to it."
"If we reach the next stage, we would like to play versus Greece. They are the best, and to play against them will be a crash test for our quality."
Gentile was well supported in the game by Roberto Rullo who finished with 17 points, 5 rebounds and 2 assists and the guard was also looking forward to the rest of the tournament.
"We knew it would be hard. Yesterday we started very bad against Spain but I think we were good today. Now we have to prepare for the rest of Championship".
Forward Edo Muric was the pick of the Slovenia team with 12 points and 9 rebounds.
