GAME REPORT

Spain Leave It Late Against Italy

Forward Ignacio Llovet produced more magic in Makarska with a sensational 18 points and 15 rebounds at the U20 European Championship Men 2010 as Spain continued their momentum in the tournament to trounce Italy by 78-56.

Llovet has really lit it up in Croatia and this was his best performance yet although perhaps the final margin flattered Spain a little who had found themselves 34-33 behind heading onto the locker room at half-time - despite leading by fourteen points early in the game.

After an initially poor start to the second half, Spain then mustered a strong third quarter performance reminiscent of that in their previous game against Croatia. They embarked on a 17-2 run to break the game wide open and help them stroll to victory.

Llovet was pleased with the teams overall performance:

"We play 100% and we go for the win. The worst moment in this game was the beginning of the third quarter when Italy took advantage. However our defence was better and we were always conscious of our quality. During that most important moment for us, we needed to make sure we come back in the game."

Backcourt star Josep Franch also finished with 18 points and he added: "This was a very important game for us. We are feeling very good as a team right now and I hope we will continue this way."

Alessandro Gentile meanwhile had 16 points for Italy.
