Goran Ikonic and Anthony Tucker fired BC Donetsk to victory over CSI Asesoft Ploiesti in EuroChallenge Group E on Tuesday.
Ikonic scored 23 points and Tucker poured in 19 while also grabbing 10 rebounds in an 86-74 triumph for the Ukrainian team.
Ramunas Butautas' side improved to 2-1, the same record as Belgacom Liege and Enisey Krasnoyarsk while Romanians Ploiesti slumped to 0-3.
The turning point in the contest came with 5:31 to go in the second quarter with Ploiesti leading trailing 29-28.
Adrian Blidaru was fouled by Donetsk's Artur Drozdov while attempting a three-pointer.
He made two of the three free-throws for a 30-29 Ploiesti advantage.
Tucker responded with a three-point play and followed that with a lay-up to spark a 13-2 run that was capped by three-balls from Ikonic and Haywood Owens.
That made it 42-32 with 2:20 left in the third quarter.
Ploiesti twice clawed the deficit back to five points in the fourth quarter, the first at 47-42 on a Kevin Burleson jump shot and the second at 49-44 on Dumitru Carutasu's lay-up.
Donetsk held on for the victory, though.
Catalin Burlacu scored 19 points for the visitors.
Kevin Burleson, CSU Asesoft:
"Our team played not bad in the first half, and than we made too much turnovers"
Vladimir Arnautovic, CSU Asesoft Coach:
"My congratulations to Donetsk. Our two point percentage was really bad today, especially for Hargrove and Burlacu our main players. We made too many mistakes on defense, and of course we just couldn't stop Ikonic"
Artur Drozdov, BC Donetsk:
"We played good in defense. We prepared for the game. Our task was not to let Griffith play and I think we managed to do that"
Ramunas Butautas, BC Donetsk Coach:
"I want to thank all our fans for good support today. Thank you for your belief in our strength after several important games we lost."
