GAME REPORT

Donetsk Hang On To Win In Belgium

BC Donetsk hung on down the stretch to grab a 79-74 road win over Belgacom Liege in their EuroChallenge Group E opener.

After letting an early lead slip away, Donetsk had once again put themselves in control and were looking good for the win when Andrius Mazutis split a pair of free throws to make it 76-67 with 1:44 to go.

But Michael Green made four straight free throws and Will Thomas added one more as Liege closed the gap to 76-72 with 27 ticks left.

Marque Perry missed the first but made his second free-throw to stretch the gap to five, but Green hit back with a lay-up to make it 77-74 with 23 seconds left.

However, they could not get the ball back and Perry iced it with two more free throws seven seconds from time.

Perry finished with 24 points, while Anthony Tucker and Ricardo Marsh had 18 each for Donetsk. Haywood Owens also made it into double figures with 11 points.

Liege wasted a big night from Thomas, who came up with 20 points and 11 rebounds. Green finished with 16 points and Josh Duncan had 10.
