GAME REPORT

Göttingen Outsmart Dunkerque, Move Closer To Goal

MEG Göttingen's first experience in Europe is proving to be a good one as the German side moved closer to a spot in the Last 16 of the EuroChallenge on Tuesday night.

Taylor Rochestie had 13 points, five rebounds and five assists as the Violets won 72-64 at Gravelines Dunkerque for their fourth victory in five games.

Göttingen have yet to seal a place in the next round, however, as the possibility of three teams finishing with 4-2 records in Group A is still on the cards.

Gravelines and Buducnost are each 3-2 heading into their final games.

Buducnost will take on Göttingen while Gravelines will go up against Lokomotiv Kuban (0-5).

If the three sides do finish 4-2, then goal differential using the final results of the teams in the three-way tie will be used to determine the top two outfits in Group A.

Gravelines led 36-32 early in the second half but then fell victim to a 9-1 Göttingen run.

The visitors ended up outscoring them 21-9 in the quarter for a 53-41 lead.

The hosts managed to claw the deficit back to 54-52 with 5:46 to go in the game but got no closer.

Rochestie hit a lay-up and Chris Oliver followed with a three-pointer for a 59-52 lead and the Violets held on for the victory.

Oliver finished with 18 points for the winners while Juan Edwards had 13 points and 10 rebounds for Gravelines.

COACH QUOTES

Quotes BCM Gravelines Dunkerque vs. MEG Göttingen

John Patrick, MEG Gottingen coach:
"We knew that Gravelines are a good team. They are in the top-three in France and in the top-20 in Europe. So we played with a lot of intensity for 20 minutes. We played hard in defense. And I think what made the difference is our bench. Some Gravelines players seemed like tired at the end. We are also lucky because Gravelines played without Rob Lewin and Bokolo was out after only five minutes of play. It is a good result and good for our confidence to move forward. I would like to thanks our fans who came and made a good atmosphere for us."

Chris Olliver, MEG Gottingen:
"We put a lot of pressure on Gravelines. And at the end some of their players' were tired. We did a very good job tonight. I'm proud of my teammates."
