A Royal Finish For Mosch, Nadezhda


Nadezhda got a fourth-quarter spark from Sheana Mosch and claimed a 62-56 victory at Saarlouis Royals in the first leg of their EuroCup Women Semi-Final showdown.

With the scored knotted at 52-52 on Thursday night after a basket by the Royals' Candyce Bingham, Mosch erupted for seven straight points.

She made three lay-ups in a row, drawing a foul on the last of them and turning it into a three-point play.

Nadezhda stayed in front the rest of the way.

The hosts looked to be on their way to a blowout defeat early on after the visitors stormed into a 15-2 lead.

Led by Petra Manakova, Saarlouis battled back and eventually leveled the contest late in the third quarter at 40-40 and then 42-42.

With 5:18 remaining in the contest, Saarlouis again tied the game at 52-52 on Bingham's jump shot but Mosch took over and fired her team to victory.

Manakova had a game-high 18 points while Mosch finished with 17 for Nadezhda.

Anastasiya Veremeenko had 12 points and 11 rebounds and her fellow Belarus international Katsiaryna Snytsina contributed 14 points and six boards.

Olga Ovcharenko had nine rebounds to go with five points for the visitors, who grabbed 53 boards to just 40 for the home side.

The Russian outfit won despite turning the ball over 20 times to just 13 for Saarlouis.
