Fenerbahce Shake Off Szeviép In The Third

Nevriye Yilmaz scored 22 points to fire Fenerbahce S.K. to a 98-78 mauling of Szeviep Szeged on Wednesday in an important EuroLeague Women match for both clubs.

By winning, the Turkish club stayed on course for a second-place finish in Group D, while Szeviep missed out on a chance to strengthen their own bid for fourth.

Fenerbahce opened a 31-17 first-quarter advantage with a fast start from Yilmaz, but Szeviep were able to narrow the margin to three at the half.

The women from Hungary were destroyed in the third quarter, however, as they were outscored 33-8.

That effectively put the result beyond doubt.

It was an impressive display from Fenerbahce, who placed six players in double-figures, including Nicole Powell's 19 points.

She was five of eight from behind the arc.

Szeviep were led by Vaida Sipaviciute's 25 points and Emoke Furesz, who finished with 19.

Szeviep still have a good chance of capturing fourth place in the group.
