Fenerbahce took the inside track to second place in Group D of the EuroLeague Women with an 86-70 drubbing of Frisco Sika Brno in Turkey.

Haydar Ates' team took control in the first half and handed out a severe beating to a good Brno team, doing a lot of its damage at the free-throw line where it made a scintillating 16 of 17 (94.1%).

The hosts went in front to stay in the first quarter with a 6-0 burst that turned an 8-7 deficit into a 13-8 lead.

In the spurt, Nicole Powell hit a three-pointer and Nevriye Yilmaz followed with a three-point play.

Brno pulled to within 17-16 on a lay-up by Taj McWilliams but Yilmaz answered with another three-point play.

Esmeral Tuncluer then hit two free-throws and Yilmaz buried a jumper to make it 24-16.

Things were not going according to plan for Brno and that was evidence when Petra Kulichova fouled Penny Taylor when the Australian was shooting from long range.

She made all three free-throws for a 29-20 advantage - their biggest of the quarter.

Fener went in front by as many as 16 points in the second frame before taking a 49-36 lead to the break.

They blew the game wide open in the third quarter by outscoring Brno 27-14 for a 76-50 lead.

The rest of the contest was an exercise in damage limitation for the Czech team.

Turkey international center Yilmaz finished with 20 points while Powell had 16 and Taylor 15.

For Brno, Horakova had 16 points and Eva Viteckova 14.
