Tarbes GB launched a big fourth quarter rally but had left themselves too much to do as they went down 83-70 at home to Fenerbahce in their EuroLeague Women Group D clash.
Hot-shooting Fener had opened up a 23-point lead, 73-50, late in the third quarter.
And although Tarbes battled and cut that almost in half, it all came too late as Fener were given few reasons to worry even as their lead dwindled.
Nevriye Yilmaz scored 24 points and grabbed 12 rebounds to lead the Istanbul club, while Nicole Powell added 14 points and Penny Taylor and Kristen Nevlin had 13 each.
Anne Breitreiner and Frida Eldebrink had 13 each for Tarbes, while Fatimatou Sacko also reached double figures with 10.
Fener improve to 3-2, good for second place in the group, while Tarbes are one place off the bottom at 1-4.
Haydar Kemal Ates, Fenerbahce Coach:
"I think this is a very tough group, every victory takes us to the qualification. We are very happy to win in Tarbes!"
Francois Gomez, Tarbes Coach :
"We still hope to get a good win game at home and we go for a victory in Szeged."
