Sizzling Sopron Down Gorzow

Polish outfit KSSSE AZS-PWSZ Gorzow will have to wait at least one more week for a victory in their first EuroLeague Women campaign after falling to a 78-64 defeat at MKB Euroleasing Sopron.

Gorzow fell at Rivas Ecopolis last week and despite getting 15 points and seven rebounds from Poland international Justyna Zurowska, they slumped to a second straight setback to a Sopron team that is off to a quick 2-0 start in Group C.

Sopron's Serbia international Jelena Milovanovic was a doubt for the game earlier in the week when she was taken to hospital with suffering with dizziness and blurred vision.

Her game-high 21 points, however, left the visitors dizzy.

The game was knotted at 20-20 early in the second quarter after a basket from Gorzow's Alabama native Sidney Spencer.

Milovanovic answered with a lay-up to spark an 8-0 that put Sopron in front for good.

MKB Euroleasing outscored their opponents 24-13 in the second quarter to lead 42-31 at half-time.

A Milovanovic three-ball early in the third period stretched the Sopron advantage to 54-33.

The Polish team battled but never seriously threatened the rest of the way.

Amber Holt chipped in 16 points for Sopron, who won 74-63 at home last week over Good Angels Kosice.

Gorzow hurt their cause by turning the ball over 23 times.
