Good Angels Kosice stopped the rot and clinched their first win in the EuroLeague Women this season at home to ZVVZ USK Prague.

An awesome Candice Dupree poured in 30 points and pulled down 13 rebounds for the Slovakian team in their 73-70 Group C triumph.

Dupree, who was voted to the Rest of the World Team at the All-Star Game last season while playing in Poland, was a perfect 12 of 12 at the free-throw line.

She also dominated with her defense, swatting three shots and coming up with two steals.

It was consecutive baskets from returning star Linda Frohlich that put Kosice in front for good early in the third quarter.

Frohlich, who recently began her second spell at the club after parting with Frisco Sika Brno, scored six points in a row for Kosice.

The last two baskets gave them a 49-46 advantage.

After two Lindsay Whalen free-throws cut Prague's deficit to 49-48, Katarina Hrickova buried a jump shot for a 51-48 Kosice lead.

The home side went in front by 10 points in the third quarter and were also in front by 10 midway through the fourth.

Prague managed to reduce the deficit to 72-70 with a Whalen lay-up three seconds from the end but they got no closer.

Frohlich finished with 16 points and 11 rebounds for Kosice while Evina Maltsi scored 21 and Whalen 17 for Prague.

Kosice did a lot of their damage at the free-throw line, making 22 of 25.

Prague were an efficient 16 of 18.

Lubor Blazek, ZVVZ USK Prague coach:
"I think we had problems in the first half with defense and we got too many points. Then we improved in defense, but we were less effective in offense. The Kosice team constantly changes and is different than at the beginning of the league. I believe that in Prague will be also a nice and interesting game."

"I am very happy with the victory and with style we played today. We were strong in the third quarter with a ten-point run, but we knew the coach of USK Prague will pull out something on us in the last and that is what happened. We resisted this pressure and I think we deservedly won."

"Before the match we were under pressure. But we prepared ourself perfectly and we played what we said we have to play. From beginning to end, we played very focused. We do not allow the opponent to leave us behind. Conversely, the beginning of the second half we started to build our advantage. The development of the game always brings different twists. USK is too good and experienced team to just give up on a game. But we succeed to keep this valuable win. We won and it is very important. Everything good that we showed against USK, we must now pass on to the upcoming EuroLeague matches."
