Wisla Can-Pack Krakow continued their stunning run at the start of the EuroLeague Women by coming from behind to defeat Beretta-Famila 83-72 on Wednesday night in a battle of unbeatens.

A side that was supposed to be in the EuroCup Women just days before the start of the EuroLeague, Wisla were given entry to Europe's elite club competition following the financial meltdown of CSKA Moscow.

Jose Hernandez's team has made good on the opportunity by defeating Halcon Avenida, MiZo Pecs, ESB Lille Metropole and now a good Beretta-Famila side that had enjoyed an excellent start to the contest.

The Schio club raced into a 25-16 lead by the end of the first quarter but wasn't able to press home the advantage.

Instead they went to half-time on top, 43-36.

The Italians were still leading 53-42 with 6:35 to play in the third quarter when they unraveled.

Agnieszka Majewska hit a jump shot to spark a 13-0 Wisla run which gave the home side a 55-53 lead.

Kathrin Ress scored for the Schio team but failed to stop the bleeding because Janell Burse and Marta Fernandez hit jumpers before Iziane split a pair of free-throws for another 5-0 run.

By the end of the quarter, the hosts led 62-59 and they reeled off the first six points of the fourth period to take command for good.

Burse, Fernandez and Liron Cohen each scored at the beginning of the frame for a 68-59 advantage and they cruised the rest of the way.

The fabulous Fernandez had 17 points and 13 assists for Wisla, who also got 17 points from Liron Cohen and 16 from Burse.

Nicole Antibe scored 17 points and corralled eight rebounds for the visitors.

Beretta-Famila dropped to 3-1.

"A very good game for the spectators that are for sure happy after that Wisla victory. I must say that I am not - after the first good half in the second Wisla was the better team playing hard defense and that decided it. Generally I prefer the offensive basket and my team always is focused to score at least one point more than the oponents. Today we were not able to break the defence system of the home team."
