The Czech Republic won bronze last year and now they are a victory away from reaching the podium again at the U18 European Championship for Women following an 80-68 triumph over Serbia.
The win has put the Czechs into a meeting with France in the Semi-Finals.
With the game tied at 53-53 late in the third period, the Czechs scored eight unanswered points.
That was part of a 15-1 run that bridged the third and fourth quarters as the Czechs raced into 68-54 lead with eight minutes to go.
Serbia cut the deficit 73-67 with less than two minutes to play but got no closer.
The Serbians crashed to defeat despite out-rebounding their opponents 37-19.
"It was a battle," said the Czech Republic center Alena Hanusova.
"Serbia have tall centers and we struggled on the boards against them.
"We had prepared for Serbia's style of play.
"The whole team played great defense and our small players got a lot of steals which was key to our win."
|Alena Hanusová had to deal with the big Serbian frontline and still carried her team with 19 pts and 11 rbs|
Hanusova led her team with 19 points and also pulled down 11 rebounds.
Lenka Bartakova came up with nine of the Czechs' 18 steals and finished with 17 points.
Serbia turned the ball over 30 times.
The Serbs were a mere three of 11 (27.3%) from long range while the Czechs finished a far more respectable six of 18.
Serbia made just 21 of their 41 (51.2%) attempts from the charity stripe. The Czechs finished 24 of 29 (82.8%) from the line.
Sara Krnijc poured in a game-high 20 in defeat.
The Czechs will now turn their attention to Saturday's contest against France.
France thrashed the Czechs 78-48 earlier in the tournament.
"For us it's a new game," said Hanusova. "We leave behind that defeat against them in the Qualifying Round.
"We will try to do our best and we shall see.
"We have earned respect after this victory over Serbia."
