France kept their unbeaten run at the U18 European Championship for Women alive with a 63-45 triumph over Italy.

The Italians dug themselves an early hole and trailed 19-5 after the first quarter. However, they shaved four points off the deficit by half-time and went to the locker rooms behind 32-22. France went on a 17-6 run to take command for good in the third quarter.

Federica Tognalini had six points as none of her team mates reached double figures

"We didn't play well in the opening half," said Eleonore Grossemy, who led the French with 13 points.

"We didn't get all the rebounds we should have got but after the break, we stepped our defense and we were more aggressive on the boards.

"The important thing is the win and this is our fourth so we are very happy."

Allison Vernerey contributed to the win with nine points and also pulled down 12 rebounds.

France outrebounded Italy 39-26.

Italy committed 29 turnovers.

Jerome Fournier's side was superior shooting the ball.

They were 23 of 44 (52.2%) from the floor while the Azzurrine mustered 17 of 58 (29.3%).
Irene Pieropan led the Italians with nine points.
