STB Le Havre Win At Base BC Oostende, Reach EuroCup
// 11 November 2008

French outfit STB Le Havre won 88-83 at Base BC Oostende on Tuesday to seal a place in the EuroCup.

Base BC Oostende led by one after the first leg of the Qualifying Round 2 tie and were ever so close to advancing in the competition but didn't make the big shots late in the game.

After fighting back from an 80-72 defeat to tie the game at 80-80 with 1:18 remaining, Oostende watched as Fabien Causeur put the visitors back in front with a lay-up.

Le Havre then fouled Matthew Haryasz and he missed both free throws.

The French team would go on to score eight unanswered points for an 88-80 lead and they held on for a 172-168 triumph on aggregate.

Quotes Base BC Oostende vs. STB Le Havre
// 12 November 2008

Coach Drucker, Oostende Coach:

"If we play defense like this then it's obvious we do not deserve the win and the qualification for the Eurocup. We played a good offensive game but then at the end lacked the luck to win. Anyhow, Le Havre deserves the win as we did not defend as we have to."

Matt Haryasz, Oostende Player:

"I think that there are a lot of things that are a cause for the loss. It is tough to deal with the freethrows I missed."

Coach Sousa, Le Havre:

"It was difficult to beat Oostende. They have a tough side. They play a tough inside game and I saw they were not good from the three-point line against Aalst and I knew that if we could give them a hard time from the inside tonight."

Ronald Thompson, Le Havre Player:

"I feel good and I think the team feels good. The last three games we played were close and tonight it finally paid off."
