BC FMP Zeleznik claimed a 69-61 triumph over Ural Great in the opener of their EuroCup Qualifying Round 2 tie on Tuesday.
The Serbian side trailed 45-40 at half-time but dominated after the interval, outscoring Ural Great 21-10 in the third quarter before taking an eight-point win.
Dragan Labovic had 22 points and seven rebounds for FMP while Vanja Plisnic was among the star performers for the Russian outfit with 11 points and five rebounds.
This contest went the way of FMP in large part because of the free-throw shooting woes of Ural Great, who were just 11 of 22 compared to the home side's 21-of-26 effort.
Ural Great were on top 55-53 with 4:39 remaining in the third quarter but FMP held them without a basket for the rest of the period and finished the frame on an 8-0 run that was started by a Nikola Markovic dunk.
Labovic also had a bucket and Nemanja Protic buried a couple of shots in the spurt.
Markovic then continued the run by starting the fourth quarter with a three-pointer for a 64-55 advantage.
Ural Great got no closer than six points the rest of the way.
