Battling Bonn Finally Fall To Panellinios


Panellinios overcame an impressive start by hosts Telekom Baskets Bonn to win the second leg of their EuroCup Qualifying Round 1 tie 85-70 and seal a place in the next phase of the competition.

The Greek outfit prevailed 154-124 on aggregate and now face an intriguing showdown with BC Kyiv.

Telekom Baskets scored 14 of the game's first 16 points to trail by just three overall but Panellinios eventually found their rhythm and were behind 24-18 at the end of the first quarter.

By half-time, Bonn's advantage had been reduced to 40-36.

They took the lead for good with a 7-0 run midway through the third quarter which gave them a 55-49 advantage in Tuesday's game.

Australia international Brad Newley and Serbian Ivan Radenovic each had 13 points and seven rebounds for Panellinios, who shot a blistering nine of 18 (50%) from three-point range.

Five different Panellinios players connected from behind the arc.

They also out-rebounded their hosts 38-25.

Djuro had a game-high 14 points for the winners.

Bonn got 12 points from Earl Rowland and 10 from Artur Kolodziejski.
