EclipseJet MyGuide Amsterdam hit back from last week's 17-point home drubbing to BC Triumph in their EuroChallenge Top 16 opener with a 74-70 upset of CSK-VVS Samara on Tuesday. Orien Greene had 23 points and nine rebounds for the Dutch team, who trailed 62-59 early in the fourth quarter after Sergey Demeshkin's three-ball for CSK-VVS. Clint Harrison drew a foul and went to the charity stripe to make two for the visitors before Green followed with a go-ahead jump shot. After Avis Wyatt dunked, Greene struck with another jumper before capping the run with a three-pointer. The scoring burst left the Dutch side with a 70-62 advantage and CSK-VVS got no closer than three points over the last 5:21 of the game. Dutch international center Peter van Paassen had 16 points and seven rebounds for the winners while Teddy Gipson weighed in with 14. Marque Perry paced the Russian outfit with 23 points. CSK-VVS were 14 of 23 (60.8%) at the free throw line compared to EclipseJet MyGuide's 17 of 23 (73.9%). Valeriy Tikhonenko's team, which lost at Dexia Mons-Hainaut in their opener last week, will hope to avoid going 0-3 in Group L when they host BC Triumph in their next game while the Amsterdammers face Dexia in Holland. |
