GAME REPORT

Cajasol Surprise Ural Great In Perm

Cajasol Sevilla put on a gritty performance at Ural Great on Tuesday to win their first game in the EuroChallenge Top 16.

The Spanish strugglers were tied with one quarter to play before prevailing 72-61 in Perm, Russia, to leave both outfits with 1-1 records in Group K.

Cajasol, who are bottom of the ACB, will remain in the country and travel to Lokomotiv Rostov for another EuroChallenge game on February 13.

The Seville team took a 47-41 lead with 2:22 remaining in the third quarter after Poland international Michal Ignerski buried a jump shot to take his points haul to 19.

Ural Great marksman Ralph Biggs responded by nailing three straight shots from behind the arc to put the home side on top at 50-47 with 1:03 to go in the third quarter.

Pedro Rivero del Caz replied with a three-ball for Cajasol to leave the contest knotted at 50-50 with 10 minutes to go.

In one has been a season of immense frustration for  Cajasol because of their plight in the ACB where they have just four wins and 17 defeats, the basketball gods finally smiled on them.

Juan Jose Triguero made three of four free throws at the beginning of the fourth quarter and Rivero del Caz followed with a basket for a 55-50 advantage.

Biggs went in for a lay-up for Ural Great, but the 5-0 spurt at the beginning of the frame had put Cajasol in front to stay.

Pedro Martínez's team went in front by as many as 13 in the final period before winning by 11.

Biggs was sensational, finishing with a game-high 26 points. He ended up knocking down five of the eight three-pointers he attempted.

The 26 points was a season-high for Biggs.

For Cajasol, Ignerski was nine of 13 from the floor and three of six from long range on his way to a team-high 21 points.

Ural Great were just 12 of 30 from two-point range compared to Cajasol's 22 of 36.
